Practice Tips, get the most out of your music lessons.

05/10/2018 Posted by Michael Squier Lessons

Get the most out of your music lessons. Let Learn2Play Music in Caringbah show you the benefits of practice without making it a chore

Who Should Practice?

Anyone who wants to get better at their instrument to enjoy it more should practice.

Why Practice?

The more you practice, the better you get. The better you get, the more fun you have. The more fun you have, the more you want to practice…. And so on.

When to practice?

Schedule a recurring time each day to practice. To get the most out of your lessons, make practice a priority. There are no excuses for not practicing at all though the week, even “Mental Practice” with only your sheet music and fingers counts too!!

What to practice?

Start with your weekly lesson assignments and then go from there. Log in to Teacher Zone to see what the teacher set for practice. This will help you grow and develop. After that have fun and learn something new.

Where to practice?

Anywhere that is free of distractions (so no TV, Computer Games in the background, or heavy foot traffic from the rest of the family). Set yourself up in a special place where you can become a better musician.

How to practice?

Make a daily goal based on your lesson assignments. Break up your pieces into small sections until you can play it several times in a row with no mistakes. (even if you need to slow it down to start with). Then move on to longer sections. Do not just play the whole piece all at once. Work on the difficult spots until they are easy. Save a full run through for the end of the sessions. Always play using good technique (don’t get lazy) and with good sound. DO NOT just practice what you know already to just make noise, so it sounds like practice.

Happy Practicing
