Emilio is a Chilean composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist who enjoys helping students discover their own connection with music. He began playing guitar at the age of six and later studied at Projazz in Santiago, completing an Advanced Diploma with a specialisation in music for film and audiovisual media.
His experience spans composition, arranging, recording and live performance, with piano and guitar as his main instruments alongside a background in Latin percussion. He was the main composer for Derribando Muros, a Chilean documentary exploring social reintegration after prison. He has also developed Intro to Screen Music, a short course for the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
Emilio has been teaching since 2019, working with children, teenagers and adults in Chile and Australia. He joined Learn2Play Music in March 2025, where he teaches piano, keyboard, guitar and beginner drums. His lessons are tailored to each student’s interests, experience and pace, combining songs they enjoy with practical work on technique, rhythm and musical understanding.
As a composer, Emilio enjoys introducing students to improvisation and creating their own music. He helps them explore how chords, melodies and rhythms work together, connecting musical ideas directly to what they are playing.
Emilio believes learning should be enjoyable, with room to ask questions, experiment and make mistakes. His aim is to help students become confident, curious musicians who can express themselves and keep discovering music throughout their lives.
